The area is loaded with creeks and streams as well as the Hiawassee River that feed into or out of Lake Chatuge always providing a continuous flow of cool fresh mountain water.
There is always some kind of event going on in the county, no matter what the season or the weather. This link will take you to the Clay County Chamber events calendar. Clay County is also fortunate to have a large number of churches of all denominations located throughout the county. Some of these churches were built before the automobile was invented, so they built churches in small areas that were more populated, and most continue to serve those areas.
